How to Change USDT into US Dollar Cash in Panama, and the Other Way Around

How to sell USDT (Tether) for US dollar cash in Panama, or buy USDT with cash: the steps at the desk, networks, fees and how to stay safe.

To change USDT into US dollars in Panama, you bring your USDT to a desk, send the crypto to the address the person serving you gives you, and receive dollars in cash, counted in front of you. To buy USDT with cash, the path runs the other way. Torero Coin is a crypto exchange desk in Panama City, Panama, on Calle 50 in Obarrio, and has worked this way since 2021. This guide covers the steps, what it costs, how to stay safe, and what to do if you would rather have the money in a bank.

What USDT is and why people change it for dollars

USDT, also called Tether, is a stablecoin: a digital currency designed to hold a value close to one dollar. At the desk it settles one to one with the dollar, so there is no guessing the figure: what varies is the fee for the exchange. When you need bills, you change it in person for US dollars in cash.

Where to sell USDT in Panama

You can sell USDT in Panama in person, at a crypto desk. Torero Coin is at PH El Embajador, Calle 50, Obarrio, Panama City, with a ground-floor entrance and paid parking right in front. Walk in Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 18:00; weekends, holidays and off-hours by appointment. The exchange is in person: you talk to someone, you see the cash, and you leave settled the same visit.

How to sell USDT (Tether) for US dollar cash

  1. Message us. On WhatsApp, tell us how much USDT you want to sell and which network it is on. We confirm a figure and a time.
  2. See your figure. The exchange calculator shows the estimated fee and what you receive. A person confirms the firm figure before anything moves.
  3. Come to the desk. With your USDT in your wallet and, depending on the amount, your ID.
  4. Send the USDT. To the address the person at the desk gives you, in person. Compare it with what you see on your screen before you send. The crypto is confirmed on chain and, before the cash is handed over, it is screened with blockchain analytics.
  5. Receive your dollars. The cash is counted in front of you and you leave settled the same visit.

How to buy USDT with cash

Buying USDT or Tether with cash follows the same path, in reverse:

  1. Message us with the amount and the network you want to receive the USDT on.
  2. Bring US dollars in cash and your wallet on your phone.
  3. Confirm your address and the network twice before we send.
  4. Hand over the cash and receive the USDT. The cash is counted in front of you and the transfer is confirmed on chain before you leave.

Networks: the detail that prevents the most mistakes

The same coin can exist on several networks, and each network has its own addresses. If you send USDT on one network and the address expects another, the funds may not arrive or may be very hard to recover. So before you send anything:

  • Tell the desk which network your USDT is on.
  • Confirm the network and the address with the person serving you.
  • Check that they match what you see on your screen.
  • If you prefer, send a small test amount first and, once it arrives, send the rest.

What it costs to change USDT

The fee depends on the amount and the direction, and it falls as you exchange more. These are the rates published today:

  • You sell USDT and receive cash: a $10 operational fee under $200. From $200, 5%; from $1,000, 4.5%; from $2,000, 4%; from $5,000, 3.5%; and from $8,000, 3%.
  • You buy USDT with cash: 0% plus a $10 operational fee under $20,000. From $20,000, 0.5%; from $50,000, 1%; and from $100,000, 1.5%.

Each step starts at its lower bound: at $8,000 you are already in the 3% step. There is no minimum. The calculator shows the estimated fee for your amount, and fees can move slightly with the market; in a good market, or for larger volumes, we may offer an even lower fee. A person confirms the firm figure before anything moves.

A deposit to your Panama bank account

If you would rather not carry bills, up to $10,000 the desk can deposit the money into your own bank account in Panama, personal or your company's, instead of paying you in cash. The same fee from the selling ladder applies, plus a $10 operational fee. It is an option for when you sell crypto. Usually just a picture of your ID is enough, though a bank can ask for more depending on the case, and the deposit is usually made the same business day: a request that reaches us close to the bank's closing time can move to the next business day, and you always get the current timing before anything moves.

Larger amounts and wires abroad

For larger amounts, or to send the money to a bank outside Panama, the wire quote tool asks five questions and compares the routes available, in USD and EUR, to bank accounts in more than 150 countries. You do not need to hold USDC: you can bring any major coin and the desk swaps it, with one extra step.

How to stay safe when you change USDT

  • Send only to the address the person at the desk gives you in person. Be wary of addresses that reach you in a message from someone you do not know, or that change at the last minute.
  • Check the network and the address before you send. A transaction on the blockchain cannot be reversed.
  • Exchange only where you get a firm quote and the cash is counted in front of you. Never send crypto first to a stranger.
  • If it is your first time, try a small amount.
  • Ask what verification they require and from which amount. At Torero Coin none is asked for smaller amounts; from defined limits an ID is required.
  • Torero Coin does not serve residents of the United States; if you are travelling and live elsewhere, you are welcome.
